Berberine is an herbal supplement extracted from various plants including Oregon Grape, Goldenseal, and Barberry that has been used for hundreds of years in traditional Eastern medicine.
After 1 bottle and a much better period experience (cramps, mood, flow) I have decided to subscribe for a Berberine bottle each month. I can say most medicines (holistic or otherwise) have not worked for me but this does.
Very good product. Helps with maintaining blood sugar levels. Will purchase this again.
I have PCOS, and wanted to try taking berberine after reading all the positive effects it has for PCOS women, as opposed to metformin. It has only been a couple weeks, so I think it’s too soon for me to notice any drastic difference.
Honestly the taste of the supplement is kind of bad to me, and lingers in my mouth for a bit. So I do wish the dosage wasn’t 3 of them, but other than that I will be ordering another month to see if I see positive results.
I use berberine as a mast cell stabilizer. This and a few other herbs are my daily maintainers and keep me off a ton of Big Pharma meds. I have mastocytosis and most people with this rare chronic illness shovel in a ton of pills. A few supplements and changing my eating patterns keeps me very stable. Adding this in neither made things better or worse, which is good because it means it works the same as what I was previously taking. So I can recommend this for mast cell disorders.
My hubs used to take Berberine to lower blood sugar and keep off big pharma meds and berberine helped, but what cured him completely was a therapeutic ketogenic diet. He went from a 9.5 A1C to a 4.9 A1c in 3 months and his blood sugar has been within normal ranges for 2.5 years. All diet alone. No exercise. He is still technically overweight. Only mentioning this because ... you can either take pills or supplements your whole life and still risk losing limbs, eyesight, etc ... or you can change your eating habits and regain your life as your very own.
So yes, this berberine seems to be a good quality brand and I will finish out my supply as a daily. No regrets.
I have only been using this for a few weeks now and have already seen some promising results. My fasting and non fasting glucose have been consistently lower. With my curiosity peaked about this, I did some research on Berberine. According to a study from the National Institute of Health (NIH), Berberine showed to be as good, and in some cases better, than Metformin for Type 2 diabetes - the hypoglycemic effect of berberine was similar to that of metformin. And this is from the NIH - not something like WebMD. I recommend searching and reading about it. I am very excited to see what my A1c is when I get it tested in January. So far a fantastic product.
